Don't get me wrong.. The Atlantis was beautiful, however the rooms they put us in were in an old section of the resort and just plain sucked. Otherwise, PokerStars put on a first class event.

My tournament went downhill fast. On the fifth hand of the tounament, YES the fifth hand 25/50 Blinds. I raised UTG+1 to 200 with black Aces, Marco Traniello (Jen Harmons Husband) seated to my immediate left re-raised me to 700 straight... rather than just call, I wanted to elinate any bad beats so I re-re-raised to 2000 straight. He just called. When he did that I put him on KK. There is no other hand he could have.

Flop comes Q 66. rainbow.

and I bet 4000 into the 4000 chip pot, he tanks then finally annouces he is all in.

I just committed 2/3 s of my stack so folding was out of the question.

I call he shows 2 red kings. I am in a great spot to double up early... however a black king on the turn sealed my fate.

Oh well, I got to enjoy the rest of the trip in paradise with my family.

Check back later.

Peace.

Pokerstars Carribean Adventure!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Have not been posting here for a while.. Foxwoods went well for Marco, he finished 35th out of 900 entrants, and took home $15,400 in cash.. we exchanged 20% swaps of each other so after taxes 30% I got a whopping $2000 back. He actually had a chance to win the tournament as he was third in chips with only 45 to go. He made 1 mistake, that may or may not of cost him the tournament.. he called an all in raise of a re-raise, with AK off suit with zero of his own chips in the pot at the time.

I have some other good news, I finally broke through and won a $175 double shoot out and won my seat to the PCA.

I am packing my bags as we speak because we're leaving tomorrow!

First prize is likely going to be in the Million Dollar Range, so again I have zero expectations of taking the Million home, Im going to go there play my best game, have some fun and "HOPE" I get lucky.

Its at the beautiful Altlantis Resort at Paradise Island in the Bahamas, not a bad spot to be if you bust out early and my father and mother in-law have decided to join Darcie, and my 9 month old son for the trip so it promises to be alot of fun no matter what.

If I am still in after the first day (Flight B-- Firday) .. However my luck has changed. I have been running very bad. I won't go into great detail, but I have been losing when I'm ahead, like with AA vs KK and TT vs 99 (he made quads), I have been losing 75% of the hands I am supposed to be 50-50 on. When that happens, there is just nothing you can do. The best strategy is just to take a break.

Since Marco and I have the one Foxwoods seat locked up, we decided to make a go of it in the big Sunday Tourney on Paradise to try and win the second one. There was 45 entrys and the Tournament pay out was 1st to 4th got $11,500 packages. 5th Place paid $2500, 6th Place paid $2000, and 7th place paid $1500.

I didn't get many premium starting hands, however I was able to play my table image and didn't have to show down very many hands take a short stack to the final table. I had about 4500 chips, however just winning the blinds at this point in the tourney we're worth about 2000 chips. I picked up JJ on my third hand and pushed all in, and everyone folded and now had about 6500 chips. Two players had dropped out when Sheetsworld (Eric Haber) made an all in move from the button to try and steal the blinds when he had about 9000 chips. He was instacalled by the small blind who also had around 9000 chips... the Small Blind turned up AQ, and Sheets turned up 75o. The Ace on the turn sealed Sheet's fate. I don't think Sheet's play was bad there, if he wins just the blinds in the antes, he probably has a seat locked up. Also he was pushing into 2 players with about average stacks, meaning they didn't have to take any unnecessary chances at this stage of the tournament. The small blind made the call without thinking, it just sucks when you make a move like that and the people that your playing against don't even think about their decisions. So now were down to 7. I didn't play a hand in the next orbit, so I was down to about 5100 in chips when it was folded around to me in the small blind, I held K3o.. this was no great hand but since I was low in chips I jammed and was insta called by the same player who called Sheets, with Q10d. Again he didn't need to take any risk's but he chose to again. We'll a Q hit the turn and I was out in 7th, the $2000 prize eased my pain but that's Poker.. I got a situation when I needed a make a move, put my chips in with the best hand, but lost.

I also played in the $200 Foxwoods Satellite Tournament on Paradise Monday Night. I was chip leader or close to the chip lead the entire tournament. With about 15 players to go (top 2 won seats) I had about T$35000, the next player had about T$25,000 so I was in really good shape. But in No Limit Texas Holdem anything can happen, and it did.

With 15 players to go it was 6 handed blinds at 400-800 +100 ante, when it was folded around to me on the Button and I look down at AQ. I make it 3500 to go. The small blind smooth calls the raise. He had about $18,000 in chips. The range of hands I put him on here is a medium pocket pair 88 through TT, KQ, A9, AT, AJ.

The Flop Came Qs Js 3d.

Which I felt was good for my hand, I felt I was best here but the texture could give my opponent a draw. The small blind checked the flop and the pot at this point contained about $10,000 in chips. I really didnt want to fool around with this kind of flop so I pushed all in. My opponent instacalled me with KK. (WOW). He probably put me on a steal when I made my button raise and decided to slow roll with the kings. Too bad I wasn't stealing, and actually hit my hand giving me Top Pair Top Kicker. OUCH.

I was now down to T$8,000 and two hands later pushed with 77 from the cutoff. The same guy calls me with KK again on the button and I go from the chip leader to out in 2 hands.

I don't regret any of my decisions, I just got very unlucky.

Im going to take a little break from poker for the rest of the week, and hopefully this will pass.

Win Your WPT Seat Online

Here is a helpful resource if you are trying to win a seat to a World Poker Tour Event or a World Series of Poker Event.

Here is a list of Online Card Rooms that are offering Satellites:

Party Poker is currently offering satellites. One was the $200.00 Thursday Night Foxwoods Satellite, on Paradise. A friend of mine Marco, who is a very good player was also playing, and since we we're planning on going down to Foxwoods together, he asked me if I wanted to chop with him in the Satellite. I agreed, which meant that if either of us won our spot, we would share the prize package 50-50 with the other. I busted out early of the tourney.. but Marco had some better luck. He ammassed a big stack early.. stayed agressive, and took it down.

Top 3 spots won a $11,500 Pacakage including the $10,200 buy in to the Championship Event. 4th place would win $2500, 5th $2000, and 6th about $1,000.

I was watching him play the final table his screen name is RIVERYOURASS.. I almost died laughing when I heard it too.. he does have a knack for making interesting screen names. On Pokerstars his name is JustShipIt, and on Party Poker its KeepPayingMe.

When it got down to four handed, which was the bubble for the big prize package. A player called an all in raise with 23o. We couldnt believe what we were seeing.. I have never seen anyone play like that. Surely Paradise players couldn't be that be. As it turned out, the player was from the UK and ways saying that his Passport was expired.. and just wanted the 4th place cash. That was a good feeling as Marco was 3 in chips at that point and anything thing could happen. The UK player dumped off the rest of his stack and the prize package was ours.

So now either we have to put $5,100 each for another seat, or win another Satellite.
So were going for sure, which is great because the Foxwoods Event is one of the best events on the WPT.

I also played in a Stars double shootout for the PCA WPT seat... and won my first table... however I made a mistake at the final table mis playing JJ, and I was done. Here's the hand if your interested in what not to do with JJ. Looking back I should of raised to T$150 rather than T$200, and let them go when the player made the little raise.. I didnt know the opponent, and best case scenario was that he had AK, as any other hand that justifys him playing it like that has me in big trouble.. QQ, KK, AA. etc. Turns out he had the Aces and I became short stacked. I made some moves and got it back to T$1100.. but I came over the top of a raise with AKs, and got called by a TT.. when I didnt improve my Carribean Dreams came to an end.

But Im going to FOXWOODS, see you there!!

Here is what NOT to do with JACKS!! I want to explain to you what a double shootout is, and how it works. Basically it is a 2, Single Table Tournaments. A number of people sign up, get drawn to a table of 9 or 10 players and the winner of each of the first single table tournaments play another single table tournament for the prizes.

In the PokerStars WPT Double Shootouts, you dont get anything for coming in second in your first table.. and only if you win your table will you advance to the final table of 9 players. The PokerStars tournaments have 81 players (9 at each table) who paid $175.00 for a chance to win a prize package worth $12,000.00 which includes your buy in to the PokerStars WPT event in the Bahamas, your accomdations including meals at the luxiourous Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island and $1,000 for your travel. If you get second place or third place you win $650... So you NEED to win the whole thing to make it worth your while.

I like the shootouts becuase I feel I have the biggest edge in the single table tournaments, as my specialty is single table tournaments. However.. I have been having some horrible luck. I have played in about 8 so far, and have made the final table only once. However I have been heads up for a spot at the final table 3 other times, and have lost coin flips or hands that I had been ahead when all the money went in only to have the other guy suck out on my to win the hand

Its just tough when you feel your outplaying your opponents, and you have nothing to show for it.

PokerStars have just begun offering $110.00 6 Man Sit and Go Turbos. I played in 5 of them yesterday and won 4. They only pay out for first and second place.. but becuase they are 6 mans I think that if you get 2 or 3 bad players your edge is huge because that amounts to 33% to 50% of the field. Not bad a $900 profit.

If you like Sit and Gos, Pokerstars is the place you want to play them.. their rake is low and the structure is great and the play is bad enough that you can make a living just playing them... definetly check out these new $110 6 man turbos..

Spinning my Frustrations Away!

Well I played in 2 more satellites yesterday.. A $200 on Paradise Poker for Foxwoods and a doubleshoootout on Pokerstars for the PCA..

The Paradise satellite had around 120 players, and I was still in it with 27 left a shorter than average stack, and the blinds had just been raised to $300-$600, I had about T$4800. I got dealt AQ on the button, the UTG player had called and I decided to push all in, he went into the tank for about 30 seconds and finally called with A4s.. I was a 65-35 favorite unitil the 4 hit the flop and my tourney was over. Good call buddy!

I play most of my MTTs on Stars.. and now I have been playing Paradise for these Foxwoods qualifiers, I have to say that Paradise Players are certainly significantly weaker. So if your plan is to play tournamnents, try out Paradise Poker. Use this link and bonus code FIRST25 for a 25% bonus up to $5o.00 on your first deposit.

I busted out of the double-shootout, early I had a big stack until I got it all in with AKs and got called by AA.. oh well..

A friend of mine has turned me onto Spinning, which is basically like a aerobics class except everyone is on a spin bike (a modified excersice cycle)... the class I was in lasted an hour and man did our teacher bust our asses for the hour. When I left the class I was drenched in sweat, it was certainly the toughest workout I have had in a while. Im going to try to make it a habit at least twice a week.

If you get the chance, give it a try... if your going to be working out, you may as well go all the way!!

Well I'm firing it up for another PokerStars PCA double shootout tonight.. hopefully I'll have some exciting news tomorrow.

Tuff Beat in the Stars $109 Rebuy

Since it's Thanksgiving day today here in Canada, and the office is closed... I decided to suck up my last defeat and fire the computer up and play the Pokerstar's mid day $109 rebuy.

This tournament which runs daily at 2:15 PM EST, has the toughest field of players on the net hands down. It is jammed with online pro's.. there are hardly any fish to make it a +EV tourney.. but for some reason I have had great success in this tournament. I have played it about 8 times, and I have won it twice already.

Well my strategy was different than last nights $33 rebuy.. I only had about $220 cash in my account, as I just had made a deal to pick up a bunch of $W to play in the satellites. W$ are stars money that can be used only for Satellite tourneys.. you can't use them for other tourneys.

So basically all I had was 1 buy in and a add on. Since it is a rebuy, people tend to play like maniacs prior to the end of the add on period. I have seen some top pros spend up to $1K plus to get a stack. I was lucky I had a calmer first table, and only one player pushing all in like a maniac. I did get lucky when I got it allin pre-flop with AK and took down CK's (Christian Kruel's) QQ, when a A hit the turn.

In this tourney since the players are alot better and you have to earn your chips, I had to out play my oppenents. Here was a key hand... I called the mini raise because of the huge odds the pot was offering me. I knew from watching Oscar in previous pots that he had missed, took a chance that lauraj didnt have a Q, but if he/she didn't he/she couldn't call my raise.
PokerStars Game #2771605182: Tournament #13543336, Hold'em No Limit - Level VIII (200/400) - 2005/10/10 - 16:15:25 (ET)
Table '13543336 12' Seat #3 is the button
Seat 1: t soprano (28680 in chips)
Seat 2: SamENole (4635 in chips)
Seat 3: gboro780 (11630 in chips)
Seat 4: The_Flute (8853 in chips)
Seat 5: MisterMOTOWN (13143 in chips)
Seat 6: raisinu (12377 in chips)
Seat 7: Oscar Z (6858 in chips)
Seat 8: lauraj (7785 in chips)
Seat 9: sd_nightowl (9122 in chips)
t soprano: posts the ante 25
SamENole: posts the ante 25
gboro780: posts the ante 25
The_Flute: posts the ante 25
MisterMOTOWN: posts the ante 25
raisinu: posts the ante 25
Oscar Z: posts the ante 25
lauraj: posts the ante 25
sd_nightowl: posts the ante 25
The_Flute: posts small blind 200
MisterMOTOWN: posts big blind 400
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to MisterMOTOWN [Td 4s]
raisinu: folds
Oscar Z: raises 400 to 800
lauraj: calls 800
sd_nightowl: folds
t soprano: folds
SamENole: folds
gboro780: folds
The_Flute: folds
MisterMOTOWN: calls 400
*** FLOP *** [8d Qs Qh]
MisterMOTOWN: checks
Oscar Z: bets 400
lauraj: calls 400
MisterMOTOWN: raises 1200 to 1600
Oscar Z: folds
lauraj: folds
MisterMOTOWN collected 4025 from pot
MisterMOTOWN: shows [Td 4s] (a pair of Queens)
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 4025 | Rake 0
Board [8d Qs Qh]
Seat 1: t soprano folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 2: SamENole folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 3: gboro780 (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 4: The_Flute (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 5: MisterMOTOWN (big blind) collected (4025)
Seat 6: raisinu folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 7: Oscar Z folded on the Flop
Seat 8: lauraj folded on the Flop
Seat 9: sd_nightowl folded before Flop (didn't bet

Here's one where Tsoprano a very, very agressive player was doing all the raising around bubble time, but because my table image had be generally solid... I was tied for the chip lead with the button (Thrasymachus) the only player at the table (and in the tourney for that matter) that had me coveredc in chips. I feel I played the hand well except for the check raise on the flop... had I known he had the flush draw, I would of check raised him all in.. giving him a decision to call off all of his chips on a draw... I was 55-45 to win the hand a gain a major strangle hold of most of the chips in the tourney however the Qc hitting the turn ended my tournament in another tough defeat.

PokerStars Game #2772057949: Tournament #13543336, Hold'em No Limit - Level XII (800/1600) - 2005/10/10 - 17:13:38 (ET)
Table '13543336 12' Seat #2 is the button
Seat 1: richwalter (22717 in chips)
Seat 2: Thrasymachus (78995 in chips)
Seat 3: basictax (13786 in chips)
Seat 5: MisterMOTOWN (72216 in chips)
Seat 6: klask (51348 in chips)
Seat 7: Oscar Z (29577 in chips)
Seat 8: raconteur (13365 in chips)
richwalter: posts the ante 75
Thrasymachus: posts the ante 75
basictax: posts the ante 75
MisterMOTOWN: posts the ante 75
klask: posts the ante 75
Oscar Z: posts the ante 75
raconteur: posts the ante 75
basictax: posts small blind 800
MisterMOTOWN: posts big blind 1600
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to MisterMOTOWN [Kd Qd]
klask: folds
Oscar Z: folds
raconteur: folds
richwalter: folds
Thrasymachus: raises 3200 to 4800
basictax: folds
MisterMOTOWN: calls 3200
*** FLOP *** [Jc 6d Kc]
MisterMOTOWN: checks
Thrasymachus: bets 8000
MisterMOTOWN: raises 9600 to 17600
Thrasymachus: raises 56520 to 74120 and is all-in
MisterMOTOWN: calls 49741 and is all-in
*** TURN *** [Jc 6d Kc] [2h]
*** RIVER *** [Jc 6d Kc 2h] [Qc]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
MisterMOTOWN: shows [Kd Qd] (two pair, Kings and Queens)
Thrasymachus: shows [Ac 6c] (a flush, Ace high)
richwalter said, "oh no"
richwalter said, "wow"
Thrasymachus collected 145607 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 145607 | Rake 0
Board [Jc 6d Kc 2h Qc]
Seat 1: richwalter folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 2: Thrasymachus (button) showed [Ac 6c] and won (145607) with a flush, Ace high
Seat 3: basictax (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 5: MisterMOTOWN (big blind) showed [Kd Qd] and lost with two pair, Kings and Queens
Seat 6: klask folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 7: Oscar Z folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 8: raconteur folded before Flop (didn't bet)

I did some more work on the website today, and it's definetly going to happen. I used the play like a maniac early strategy and tried to get a big stack. I lost 4 coin flips in a row, rebought and added on each time and was now into the tourney for $250 +.. ugh

I changed my strategy and stopped throwing my money away when this hand came up.. obv I don't usually play JJ like this but since it was a rebuy I mixed it up and it payed off big time:
http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=144591

I doubled up 3 more times, and by the time the rebuy period was over, I was 2nd in chips! Well I played just basic solid poker, and most of the players were very weak, and every time I got a big hand was able to get all my chips in ahead, and didn't get very unlucky.

This hand came up when we were deep into the tourney..I flat called the UTG raise here with TT, my reasoning was that the UTG was a good solid player so I put him on a PP 99 and above, AK, AQ. So I figured if low cards came on the flop I was going to check raise him allin, and if and A K Q flopped I would let it go.. I would of won the hand but the BB going over the top with AJ is just a bad move but it pushed me out of the hand. Actually you'll see that if I called I would of been the favorite to win the hand, but I could not justify calling here TT doens't do well against 3 opponents especially when we are going to see all the cards.. We did get information on a player that were going to use later in the tourney.

http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=144606

We got down to 12 players (6 handed at my table) and I was tied for the chip lead when this hand came up... http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?page=view&hand=144614 the small blind is the same player who made the move with AJ in the previous hand which made this an easy call with AK. Unfortunatly he woke up with KK and my tourney was over. I don't regret the decision to call here in the least, I had to win all the chips to win my Foxwoods Seat and you just cant laydown big hands when your most likely going to be a favorite or a coin flip.. just unlucky that the bad player woke up with a hand... after winning this hand he was the monster chip leader, but did not win the tourney (he finished 3rd)

I won back $175 of my $250 buy in..

Nothing really to note in the Paradise Tourney, my KK got cracked by AQ which pushed me to a short stack, and I made a push with Ten Jack with T$1400 chips at the $100-$200 blind level and got called by the big blind with QQ.

My total buy in cost for Foxwoods is now $1375.. Ill keep you posted.

Ariba ARUBA..

Just finished playing in the Ultimate Bet WPT event in Aruba.

Basically nothing to report on the main event.. I was totally card dead.. My best hands for 5 hours of play were AK (twice) AJ, 99, and 22 UTG (which I had to fold).. I didnt even have any suited connecters to play.

I busted with at the 150 - 300 blind level.. I had 6000 chips and made it 1000 to go from the cutoff with AKo, it was folded to the big blind who re-raised me to 3000. I could of folded here and played the short stack.. however I felf my AK was good enough to make a stand, and hopefully try and double up. So I re-raise all in and he instacalled me, with AA..

GG me..

I did play in 3 of UBs daily tourneys.. 2 $1000 buy ins, and one of their $500 buy ins.

I went deep in the $500, got down to the final 3 tables from about 200 players.. first prize was about $25K.. however got crushed on a hand blind against blind we both flopped sets.. and he had me out kicked.

It was a good trip.. a beautiful island and alot of fun. I played in the cash games one night, not my specialty but a couple of really bad players were giving away money and I was able to make $3500.. playing 5-10 No limit. Payed for my spending money and my buyins for the other tourneys....

Welcome to My Poker blog

Thank you for visiting, my poker blog... here I will share with you some of my experiences in the world of poker and online poker.

About me.. my name is Peter to the Online Poker world I am known as Mr. Motown (or MisterMOTOWN on PokerStars) ..

In real life, my name is Peter.. I am the good looking one on the left.,

My best finish in a WPT event.. is 45th at the WPT Mirage (read about my bust out etc.. here http://www.pokerpages.com/tournament/result10993.htm )

Sorry I don't have a picture, but I met Clonie Gowen while checking into the Radisson Hotel in Aruba for the Ultimate Bet Tournament, she actually struck up a conversation with my wife about her kids and our son, she was really interesting to talk to, and a great poker player (and she's not hard on the eyes either) I chose her as my marketing strategy for FullTilt Poker.

Right now I am working qualifying for the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods (WPT) and The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (WPT)

I also have a exciting new poker website in the works... I won't go into detail right now.. but its a totally unique concept that will totally free to all poker lovers... and I promise will have hands down the most exciting poker content anywhere on the net. I don't want to give the idea away.. but stayed tuned!!

I hope you enjoy the blog!

Peter.
